In October 2024, a relatively bright comet shines in the evening sky of the Earth. Its photos are all over social networks, and astronomy enthusiasts have put everything else aside and focused their attention on the tailed guest, which is called «C / 2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS)». It was discovered in 2023 independently at two observatories - the Chinese "Tsuchinshan" and the South African Astronomical Observatory - by the robotic system "ATLAS" (the purpose of which is to detect in advance potentially dangerous celestial objects for the Earth - comets and asteroids, but this comet does not pose a danger).
In the next couple of weeks, comet «C / 2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan - ATLAS)» will move along the northern part of the constellation Ophiuchus. Its brightness is currently close to the 3rd stellar magnitude - this is slightly higher than predicted, but still not enough to easily see the comet against the background of a bright twilight sky in the city. You will need binoculars or other light optics. The comet has already passed perihelion (the closest point to the Sun in its orbit) and is now moving away from it, which means its brightness will decrease (although sudden changes in brightness are not excluded).
Among my melodies there are several dedicated to comets. One of them is present in the 6th album of the cycle «Music of Celestial Spheres» and is called «Above the Earth with a Comet». Today I combined it with the most impressive photographs taken by the best astrophotographers of the Earth.
